A Break - Non- Political/Non-Religious Comment Thread

There are times in which I just feel like starting a lighter page and I don't know what to write or say. It doesn't matter, though, what I say, because all I really want is a new comment thread, for the previous ones are becoming quite long and well, though I do know what I'd like to post next, I need to break out of this discouraged and gloomy mood before I'm going to get the inspiration out of my head and onto the page, so what I am asking for right now is for someone to simply make a comment and say a friendly hello about anything other than politics. Say something light and non-stressful and then in just a little while, I'll get past this mood and move on.

This page can also be used at any time for the sake of taking a break from any of my other posts that are too much for you when you just don't feel in the mood to think so hard.

Lista, you asked me on my post how do you get out of this slump? The only thing I can tell you is that you are suffering from blogging burnout. Just get away from it and don't post if it feels like a chore. We all suffer from blogging burnout from time to time so you're certainly not alone in that, hon.

Thanks Gayle,
In general you are right except in my case, I often find that there is some emotional or relational chore that I need to work through first before inspiration flows again. I have a tendency to look for the location of the blockage so I can deal with it and get back on track again and a little time spent with God really helps in this process.

I post so seldom anyway, so when it appears that it might even be more than a week between posts, I worry about losing touch with my blogging friends.

I'd almost whether post what may seem like a meaningless thread, without much content, than stop posting. That way my friends can continue to talk to me if they wish to and I to them.

Thanks for dropping by, Gayle. You are one of my treasured friends.

If it's just writer's block
google has 2,940,000 reasons and cures. In the 'light and non stressful' category, what do you make of the little mountain high school over in Montana..governor spoke to the graduating class..of one..hard for me to relate, I graduated with over 500 in my class..no governor, either....

That's something. Small towns are interesting. Someone gets engaged and it makes the front page and they argue about silly things like whether or not the ice cream truck should be allowed to drive through town and break the peace with their annoying tunes. Like usual, I forget details, such as what town it is I'm talking about. I just remember the basic stories because they're interesting.

I'm going to get off the computer now, but thanks for dropping in again. We'll talk more later.

light heartedness huh? ok. you asked for it. lolol

He walks out of the door of the house goes to the side of the porch and picks up a pair of lounge chairs. he carries them out onto the lawn and places them under an big old oak tree that his grandfather had planted there as a kid. then he returns to the house, sees a small table and picks it up and carries it out and places between the two lounge chairs.

nodding in satisfaction and with a grin, he returns to the house and when he comes out he is carrying a cooler. sitting it on the other side of one the chairs he flops into the chair. reaching down he opens the cooler grabs a cold wet bottle, opens it, a chug a lugs it for a few. then you could hear a loud sigh of satisfaction as he sits the bottle on the bared roly-poly belly of his. "tis the good life we have" he could be heard whispering to no one in particular.

"tis the good life" as he took another swig from the bottle.

then he could be heard yelling, "woman, get your butt out here. there's plenty of time to do your tasks later. now is the time to enjoy all of what nature offers to us."

from inside the house you could hear a small meek voice saying "yes, Master."

Oh Gee! What ever happened to the cute little puppy dog that “just follows me around wherever I lead him”?

Then she thinks for a minute and says, “Well, Ok. Just give me a minute to pour myself a cold glass of lemonade and I'll be right there.”

Well, I could stereotype you at this point, but I won't. It seems to me, I heard you and BB and Gayle all discussing beer once and Soapbox likes it too. I never did like the stuff. I could judge and act like I'm better somehow, but I sort of think that there is usually way more there than meets the eye and the way we are brought up has a lot to do with it. Also, when ever we expect the best from people, whether then the worst, often people can surprise us in very positive ways.

I doubt you'll lose touch with your blogging friends as long as you visit them onced in awhile. I'm going to have to slow down even more myself. I can't continue to post as much and get the things done around here that need to be done. I spend far too much time on the pc!

I will be posting soon that my posting is going to be limited to a Saturday post and that I'll visit as I can. I want to get back to the things that are important to me. I haven't picked up a camera in ages and my hobby is photography. I also like to crochet but haven't had any time for that either, and my house is a disaster! We also run a Farm & Nursery, so at this time a year the pace I've been keeping on the internet is impossible.

Blessings!

Yeh, I'm beginning to think that the visiting is the key to maintaining contact, not the posting.

My main reason for posting about the actual subject of the blogging itself is because it can be addicting and the only way for us to get our obsessions under control is through discipline and setting priorities and if you think about it, being obsessive about blogging is silly, because sometimes certain readers, such as myself, have just as much trouble keeping up with obsessive bloggers as they have trouble keeping up with themselves.

If every blogger were to drop back and post just a little less, we wouldn't have less to read, we would just visit a larger number of blogs and make more friends. I don't hardly think that would be a negative. Think about it.

Light & non-stressful; we'll see, the link embed thing experiment continues. My wife, the Lutheran Sunday School teacher, offers
famous Lutherans in the form of a cute
song.

Lista said...

Well, your link works BB-Idaho. Very good! You get an A. I can't seem to find the song that you're referring to, though.

No, there's no beer in here, Soapie. I told Griper he's going to have to take it outside and you guys better behave yourselves or I'm going to kick you off the property, ya' hear?

BB-Idaho said...

I can't find the song either..on my own link!! Well, here's the no-frills link:

(I added a / to the end, thinking it required before the "..hmm, wonder..) See what happens when you have drunks posting? :)

Okay so there's no beer. But, surely, there's wine...

Okay, you want light and easy going??

I'm going camping this weekend. I hope the weather cooperates. I'm making Tuna Steaks with a caper, sun-dried tomatoe, onion, mushroom relish. And, I'm making a brat (pronounced BROT) bath (not to be mistaken for a Brat [like CAT] bath).

Lista said...

Cute, BB. Would you put that beer down. You are really getting weird. lol.

I'm going to step out for just a minute, there's a homosexual discussion going on in the other room. That's on Griper's blog.

Lista said...

Soapbox,
Oh, that old thing? That's been sitting around for years. That's for special occasions. Don't you dare touch it! (Evil Look) On second thought, maybe I better not go to the next room. I think you guys need supervision.

Those Tuna Steaks sound good, Soapie, are you going to put some rum in with them?

You guys, I said put those beers down. You know what? No more beer. You can drink when you get home.

Name: Soapboxgod said...

No rum in those. I reserve the rum for Caribbean style cooking. Those Tuna Steaks are more...I dunno...Mediterranean?

Sometimes I just quote an article I like, with a big block of text, and leave it at that.

Burnout's okay, sometimes, because we can't be expert at everything, and we need time to absorb new information.

Have a great week!

Hi Donald,
Welcome to my blog. I'm so glad you could drop by. I don't worry too much about posting as often as some of the rest of the bloggers. It's not as if there's a shortage of things to read on the web.

Lista said...

Griper,
Thanks for sending me another really kind note. For a drunk guy, you are really alright. lol :) :)

I agree that posting less often can be a good thing. Sometimes there's just too much to read. And I don't like to post just for the sake of posting. If I don't have something of value to say, I just wait on the Lord.

A suggestion, Lista - you speak of going off on a different thread - I've created several blogs for that very reason. I wanted to keep like things with like things. So each blog is more or less on a theme. You might want to consider something like this.

Of course the down side is that each blog is going to get less frequent posts, but I'm doing it for the Lord and trusting Him to bring any one blog to whoever He's been ministering to on the subject. I'm not doing it for numbers, I'm just casting my bread upon the waters.

Lista said...

Hi P Maillet,
I really do appreciate your input and your comments on my blog. It seems like I’ve done nothing but write long winded comments lately and it looks like this is going to be another one. Oh well.

I actually, get frustrated with bloggers that post daily because I can't personally keep up with it. Occasionally, such a blogger will rearrange his or her schedule, than post less often, yet post several pages in one day. This doesn't change anything because if there are still 7 posts or more each week, I still can't keep up. I think some people are just driven and do not know how to slow down.

My reason for starting this particular comment thread has more to do with keeping the dialog going with my friends than it does with trying to say anything important. As much as deep thinker types, such as myself, don't like small talk, unfortunately, that is what a lot of conversation is and I think there is a place for it, so once in awhile I start a well, sort of small talk post to just invite casual dialog. This is especially valuable when a lot of the posts I've been doing are controversial subjects.

I really don't post often enough to have more than one blog. I just figured out some statistics relating to my blog and I guess my average so far is 1 Post every 3.227 days, which surprised me and makes me think that I am doing better than I think.

My original goal was to post every 3 to 4 days and the average numbers reveal that I'm basically doing that. There were a lot of times, though, in which I was posting every 5 to 6 days and once it was even 8 days, yet I have brought the average back down by occasionally doing several posts in one day.

When I published this post, it had been 6 days since my last one and I admit that that was part of my motive for doing it.

I have a couple of reasons for pushing myself just a little in relation to the frequency in which I post. One is because I have been told that posting often increases the number of hits one gets on their blog. Some bloggers post daily for this very reason.

For me, such a goal was not practical and even as a reader, I don't care for this pace, yet I decided that posting a couple times a week instead of once a week or less was doable and worth it if an increase in blog hits was the result, so even though I keep saying that the number of hits I receive doesn't matter to me that much, apparently it does matter, or I wouldn't be talking this way about it now.

As odd as it seems, Maillet, your decision to divide your posts up into so many separate blogs may have kept your hit count down. To start a home page that connects them all is a good step. This is a good way to inform your regulars of what’s new and recent. Even though what’s recent may not always be on the same blog, if your links to recent titles keep changing, this will give the look of growth and movement and regulars seem to like that.

The other reason why I push myself a little in relation to the frequency in which I post is because somehow the Lord has blessed me with enough of a following that I've been averaging about 17.318 comments per. post. Each time that I post and create a new comment thread, it gives my regulars another place to post their comments and thus the comment threads do not grow so long that no one is going to take the time to read them all.

I'm guessing that I have the following that I do because I also visit on the blogs of those who comment on my blog and every time I do that, I leave a link to my blog on their blog. I never did become a part of a blogging community. What I'm doing by just getting out there and visiting appears to be working.

Whether than dividing my stuff down into several blogs, I have created a separate post just for the sake of Categorizing links to all of my posts. A link to this post is on the right under the heading "Favorite Ramblings". I guess it is also possible to Organize and Categorize one’s Posts by Labeling them. One of my commenters gave me this link, How do I Label my Posts?, that explains how to do this. So you see, creating a bunch of separate blogs is only one of several approaches to Categorizing and Organizing Posts into separate subjects. I basically think that I’ve made the right decision for my blog because I’ve made some friends from my Political Posts, who have admitted to not being "all that spiritual", yet they appear to be reading the Spiritual Posts anyway and as long as that remains true, I'm not going to separate the two.
