For Self or for Influence (Just Has to Come Out!)

In the Comment Section of the Previous Post, I did some Brain Storming in Relation to what I should Post Next and the One Subject and Question that Continues to Stick Out in my Mind is the Question of Whether we should Blog for Ourselves, or for the Sake of Influence and having an Effect on Our World.  Actually, I Think that it's a Little of Both.

When I was Struggling a lot with Issues of Depression, I had a Lot that "Just had to Come Out", yet I'm not always Depressed and I'm not always Inspired.  Sometimes if I Wait for that which is Pressing and "Just has to Come Out", I will Wait a Really Long Time between Posts and that is why sometimes I just do Brain Storming in Order to Find my Inspiration.

Personally, though, I do not Think that Posting for Influence is a Negative.  Whether we Post sort of for Ourselves, because it "Just has to Come Out", or because we also have a Desire to, at least in some Small Way, Influence our World, none of this Matters.  Either Way, it is Fun to Write and Fun to Read and if we are Opened and Willing, we will all Learn from each other.

This is Shorter than I Thought, yet Perhaps there will be more in the Comment Section.

..seems to sum up the reason to post. As far as influence: a two-edged sword, IMO. Consider the reader may be 'converted'...OR driven into disagreement, reinforcing their opposing opinion. The very good
'convincers' are those which remain non virulent and avoid the toxins of
ad hominum, hyperbole and illogic. Even then, they may not 'convince', but they will remain respected.
...so yep, it is "fun to write and read".

Hi BB,
I Finally Looked up the Phrase "Ad Hominum", for I've been Puzzled by it for awhile now and was just to Lazy to do the Research, just Like I've become a little more Lazy about doing Direct Links, rather than just Presenting the Path as I did below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem

Actually, Maybe I'll just do this from Websters...

Virulent - "Like a Poison, Deadly, Malignant, Bitterly Hostile"
Hyperbole - "Obvious Exaggeration"
Ad Hominem - "Appealing to a Person's Feelings and Prejudices, rather than to his Intellect."

Ok, now that I've done the Research, I agree. lol.

As to the Definition of Ad Hominem, as I Took from Websters above, the Presence of Feelings does not Prove that what is being said is Invalid. What I always say is that Hurt and Anger does not Arise Out of a Vacuum. There are Often Very Valid Reasons why it's there.

Sometimes too, People will Disagree on what Constitutes a Hyperbole or Exaggeration.

OK, now use ALL three words in one sentence....
Hint: Many people mistake
BB for Robert Redford. (clearly a hyperbole!)
...seriously though, words are like images, as we speak, write, hear, read, we form mental images. Probably why advertisements are so effective. In my experience of many years, I learned to write military-esqe, legaleeze and scientific. But am most comfortable with writing just like I talk.
(with a midwest accent).:)

You already did that.

As to Robert Redford, well if that is what you look like, than let's Hook Up. lol.

Fun to write
and fun to read
Happy words
joyfully keyed

While your fingers
eagerly roam
Why not piece
the words in a poem?

Poetic wording
is always recalled
Be we agreed
or simply appalled

Express yourself
in simple rhyme
We readers deserve
a real good time!

Thanks Angel! And I Thought I was just being Negative and Bidding my Time Until the Next Wave of Somewhat Worthy Brilliance Hits me.

I can't relate to the idea of only blogging for yourself (Saty) but I suppose it's possible. Disagree a little with BB. I've always felt you should be civil when debating but I find even when you do this liberals absolutely refuse to consider and address the points you raise so I'm civil for civility's sake but it's kind of overrated.

Sorry I Delayed so Long in Responding, Z, yet I Understand what you're saying and can't Think of much of a Response. Persuasion Takes a Really Long Time, Regardless of the Method, and Quite Often, it Never Happens.

Did you Check out my Poem in the Next Post Up? BB Left a Poem as well and we've been Analyzing both Poems to Death.

Should we mention trash blogging? Those, IMO, which are very one-sided politically? For example,
all the commenters agree,
they gang up on any soul
who disagrees. Just recently, I ran across one which was so infantile and full of misinformation I felt compelled to leave a comment, non-political, just pointing out a fact.
It was simply buried with
a 'Who Cares?' As I noted in the first comment,
'influence' is a two-edged sword.
