Gone on Vacation to Canada

This is officially my last post. Mom and Dad are arriving here sometime on Monday afternoon and we will be headed out of town on Tuesday morning. I'll be checking the computer up until sometime Sunday night and responding to comments as I have time. After that, the comments will sit in the moderation mode until I get back sometime on August 3 or 4. I'm going to miss you all, but plan to have a really good time.

I'll miss you guys and probably go through a little computer withdrawal, but I'm sure once we're up in Canada, it will be so beautiful that we'll have fun. Thanks.

When in Rome...
O Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux.
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix.
Ton histoire est une épopée,
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

I hope you're not going to Toronto. It's full of liberals. I hope you're going to western Canada, it's beautiful! Wherever you are going in Canada, I do hope you'll have a blast and enjoy yourself immensely. God bless! :)

BB,
What?! I've got no idea what you're talking about, hon. That's all Greek to me. I mean Canadian, or actually probably French. Not everyone in Canada speaks French. I guess it's just certain areas in which they do. I think someone said there was a lot of French people in Quebec.

I'll be waiting for the translation of what you wrote the next time you drop by.

Gayle,
Yes, it was Western Canada and yes indeed, it was beautiful. Since we drove the whole way, we saw some things in Oregon, Washington, Montana and...

Hey BB,
We even drove through the upper end of Idaho (HWY 90) and I was thinking of you as we did.

To All,
I'll be back later with some more detail about our trip.

Gayle, BB and who ever's interested,
We entered Alberta, Canada, just after driving through the Glacier National Park in Montana, saw a Horse and Buggy Museum in Calgary and than visited some friends in Edmonton. After this, we drove over to the Rockies and through Jasper National Park and Banff National Park, where we saw Lake Louise. Next, we turned and went through Glacier National Park in Canada, which is in British Columbia.

From there, we made our way over to Vancouver, where we say this really neat Aquarium Marine Science Centre with all these aquariums, a Porpoise and Whale show, Otters, Turtles and even a Butterfly room and a few Monkeys.

Next, we took a ferry over to Victoria and saw quite a number of things over there, including a suspension bridge, some gardens, another butterfly display and a miniatures museum.

Like I said, we entered Canada into Alberta, just west of Glacier National Park, Montana (HWY 89/2). We exited Canada from British Columbia, just south of Vancouver (HWY 99/5).

In Washington, we saw an air museum in Lynnwood, near Seattle and then later, a rather interesting museum of blown glass in Tacoma, south of Seattle.

In Oregon, we were going to see the Sea Lion Caves near Florance, yet since we were all pretty tired and were headed back towards home, after spending our final night in Roseburg, Oregon, we just decided to drive home.

Hearing of your trip to Canada, I posted their National Anthem: its bilingual. My french is such that breakfast in Montreal a few years back consisted of chicken noodle soup with a side of bacon. :) When first married, we motored the width of Canada, camping in a small tent, but its been quite awhile. Wife and daughter visited
Vancouver/Victoria last year and
said traffic was a hundred times
worse than back in 1965..

BB,
Well, it sounds like you at least got one of the breakfast items right. :)

Traffic?! Tell me about it. We spend a good part of our time in Vancouver, Victoria and even Seattle driving around trying to find stuff. My poor husband did most of the driving, while my dad navigated, but they didn't have a very detailed map so we were lost often.

We also waited 1 Hour and 45 Minutes to get back through the check out line and into the states. The scenery was beautiful, though, and we saw lots of neat sights.
