Northern California Fires Still Burn - Now Round 3

I can't believe this! Yesterday things seemed to be winding down so much that we actually decided to go pick up the trailer that we had left at our friend's house, just in case of an evacuation. We unpacked the trailer and our car of all the things that had been in it on and off for several weeks now and this is the second time that we have done so.

During the first fire, which started on the 11th of June, about 4 weeks ago, the evacuation area was in a town near by and we did not appear to be threatened, yet even so, we felt nervous enough that we packed up a bunch of our valuables and photos in the car.

Well, sometime around the 19th or 20th of June, as we were preparing for some out of town company that visited us over the weekend, the fire threat had calmed down enough that we unpacked our car and hung our family photos back up on the wall.

On the 21rst, the same day that our company arrived, there was a horrible thunder storm that started a whole bunch more fires. Everything was fine for a day or two, yet soon after our company left, they were announcing another precautionary evacuation of an area closer to us than the last one was, so we packed up our car again and this time also packed the trailer and moved it to a friend's house.

Well, just Yesterday, things seemed to be winding down again so we went and picked up the trailer from our friend's house, unpacked it and also our car of all the things we had packed in it a couple weeks ago. A bunch of the fire fighters actually left the area because there were other fires that were considered higher priorities.

Well, wouldn't you know it, the minute we get unpacked again, something else happens. Besides the heat wave that we are getting and the low humidity, the winds came up unexpectedly, fanned the fire, blew it over one or their fire breaks and continued to blow it our way. This time we are, for the first time, actually officially in the precautionary evacuation area.

Man! Is this ever going to end? Why was I so darn efficient Yesterday in unpacking everything? Well, it's all packed up again and ready to go. Though I sort of doubt it, there is a possibility that they might call us in the middle of the night and tell us to evacuate. We're all ready to leave now at a moment's notice.

Sometime Tomorrow, we might evacuate anyway, if they tell us too or not.

It feels like I'm going to miss all my friends on the web. If you write comments and they disappear in the moderation mode and don't appear for awhile, you'll know that we're gone from our house. Unfortunately, we do not have a lap top. It would really be nice if we did.

Hopefully, this won't go on much longer and please pray that we won't loose our house. I'm still thinking, "No, that's not what's going to happen." If it does, there will be quite a few other houses also involved, so it wouldn't be good. Lord, please stop this fire.

Naturally, I don't want our house to burn down, but you know what I want even more than that? I want life to go back to normal. I want to unpack our car and trailer again in an undamaged house and return again to normal life.

I don't want to stress about fire. I just want to blog and eventually write about something other than the fire. I want to share my ideas. I want to eventually be so non-stressed that I can even write about politics. That's my prayer.

Well, if you want to keep reading about the fire and yet have not clicked on the California Fires Label on the Right, there is more. Just skip over the next two posts down and keep reading about the fire.

Well, as of the time of this comment, we are still here. They expected more winds last night that fortunately didn't happen. Don't be afraid to leave comments. Maybe we won't be evacuated. You never know.

I'm not sure what my husband is going to decide to do. So far, he appears to be waiting for the phone call that informs us that it's time to evacuate.

From the news, it looks as though the whole north of the state is aflame...is there a safe area to evacuate to?

Good Lord, Lista! I pray He is watching over you! This must really be scary, not to mention annoying, tiresome and extremely stressful!

I will keep you and yours in my prayers. Hopefully they'll get a handle on this before you have to evacuate... again!

God bless!

Yeh, I'm still here.

Stand by. The phone keeps ringing and now my husband's got the news on.

Hi BB.
Where've you been?

Hi Gayle,
Thanks for the acknowledgment of all my stress. You just can't imagine how very tired of this I am. A friend of mine thought that the first of the fires started around the 10th of June. That's one day less than a month ago. That's how long this has been going on.

We weren't ever actually evacuated. Though, that's not that far fetched of an assumption, for there are some people in this one town that have been evacuated twice now, but that's not us.

We've just been moving our belonging in and out of our vehicles. We've just been packing and unpacking, like it's our favorite pass time or something. lol, but we have not been evacuated.

The closest we got to actually evacuating was when we moved our trailer to a friend's house, but we just unhooked it and left it there for a few days while we went back to our home.

Currently, we are on Precautionary Evacuation Notice, which means that we can leave if we choose to, but do not have to and also that they could call us at any time and tell us that our status has changed to Mandatory, at which time, we will have to leave immediately, so we are expected to be all packed up and ready to go. Our trailer is now hooked up to our truck and both are packed and facing out the driveway.

As you can see from this post, we were considering evacuating the following day after it was written. Well, as you can see from the fact that I'm still here at the computer, we decided not to.

We considered this again last night and probably would have, except for the fact that we will have to take someone with us that is old and doesn't deal with stuff like this very well, so we decided not to impose evacuation on him until we have to, so I guess the decision once again is to wait for the Mandatory Evacuation call.

Yes, Gayle, the fact that this has gone on for so very long is quite annoying. It's already been a month and it doesn't appear that they're going to be getting this fire out any time soon. Sometimes it appears that this whole fire experience might actually fill our entire summer. This isn't so far fetched. Unfortunately, it almost seems likely.

Hi BB,
Your comment made me chuckle a little, yet at times, it does appear that way. Wouldn't that be something if the wind shifted, blew the fire in a different direction and they actually had to evacuate the evacuation centers. That's not even beyond the realm of possibility. Though, it's surprising that the number of destroyed homes isn't higher than it is.

For the most part, at least in our area, it's only effected the homes near the edge of town. Thank goodness for that. Hopefully, that will remain true, because I've been praying and telling God that I really think that the destruction of entire towns is simply not acceptable and I forbid it.

BB,
Maybe we should evacuate to Idaho. You think that would be far enough away? lol.
