Well, you need to find someone because you've got a lot of love to give.
I am married and what's more, I'm quite a bit younger than you. You're old enough to be my dad. I've known that ever since Gayle did a post on Red Skelton and you hobbled in with your cane, admitting that you remember him and you were not a kid, but an adult when he was big on T.V.
Here I go again posting a comment and than deleting it, even though there is nothing really wrong with it other than the fact that I'm not sure if everyone out there will understand. Hopefully, you have checked the "Follow-up comments will be sent to..." box and what I've deleted has been sent to you. If not, let me know and I'll send it to your blog asking you not to publish it.
he bursts out laughing. i was a kid when red was on television. don't age me that much. lol
though i will admit to being old enough to remember when radio was the center of entertainment in the home and not tv.
i even remember when telephones had party lines and you knew it was for you by the number of rings the telephone made.
i was also the first in my family to graduate from high school. neither my dad or mother did. you went to school to learn the three r's too not to address your self-esteem. and believe me, the teachers did use a wooden ruler to rap your knuckles good if you screwed up and you knew it would happen again once you got home.
i even remember when there was such cars as hudsons and packards.
i will even admit to remembering when outhouses were the norm not the exception and sears catalogues was used as toilet paper.
i remember when you mowed the lawn with a push lawn mower not these gas powered ones.
back then when a person went to a gas station and said "put in five" he meant five gallons and it cost him a dollar. and it wasn't self-serve either.
and yes, i remember the bad too. segregation was one. i do remember seeing signs on doors that said "no colored allowed" i remember how girls were treated if she came home pregnant. i remember when an employee could be fired without reason. i remember when a woman was expected to remain at home once married and only men had jobs.
in other words, yes, i am old enough to compare society as it once was and what it is now and see how it has changed dramatically.
but, i am not old enough to have been an adult when red skelton was on tv, though i was old enough to remember the big tv consules and small picture screens on them. lolol
then he just gives her a playful wink.
Ok fine, so I don't seem to know exactly how long Red Skelton was on T.V. My memories of him come from a time really late in his career when he was just about finished with his TV shows. I probably wouldn't even know him at all if it wasn't for the fact that my dad used to really like him and I did to. He was truly hilarious.
I still think that you're probably old enough to be my father.
Pregnant teenagers are babied so much now that many of them aren't even really all that ashamed of themselves. I feel bad at times when I realize that our generation contributed quite a lot to the sexual revelation that started that whole mess. There were only 2 "Venereal Diseases" back then. Now there are more than 20 "STDs". It's really sad.
There were still a lot of virgins back then, yet the attitudes were changing rapidly enough to make virgins feel like the minority, whether than the norm and even within the Church, the idea of "how far should one go" was really confusing and unclear. What a horrible shame!
